Tough Design
A rugged (or ruggedized) solution is a product specifically featured to operate reliably in harsh environments and conditions, including strong vibrations, extreme temperatures, and wet or dusty conditions. Some rugged test methods validate robustness in order to meet a product's stringent requirements, such as MIL-STD-810G test methods for shock and vibration, and the IP rating system determines how dustproof and waterproof products really are.
Industrial Wide Temperature Solutions
For many embedded applications, particularly those in military or transportation, or where systems must operate in harsh environments, wide operating temperature ranges of -40 °C to +85 °C are typical. The cycling of extremely wide temperature ranges inside vehicles is common. Exposed to sunlight, the temperature inside a vehicle can quickly rise, so on a hot 32°C day for example, the interior temperature can reach as high as 70°C in less than 10 minutes. MEMXPRO products series tolerate such wide temperature fluctuations and ensure data safety in the lowest to highest ranges.
Vibration and Shock & Resistance
Shock and vibration can drastically impact the whole system for rugged or in-vehicle applications. Passing a series of MIL-STD-810G test methods to simulate real environmental conditions, MEMXPRO’s 2.5" SSDs with side fill or underfill technology are able to withstand high levels of shock and vibration strain, ensuring total durability and long-term reliability for challenging and mission-critical applications. MEMXPRO XRDIMM and RuggedDIMM’s enhanced ruggedness is achieved through the implementation of a pin-and-socket connector system and the use of mounting holes with screw attachments firmly holding the CPU board and memory module together. They are designed to meet embedded system customization project requirements that work reliably in harsh shock and vibration environments.
Dust & Water Resistance
For industrial applications when electrical components need to withstand harsh environments, conformal coatings are an option to add protection. According to application requirements, MEMXPRO can apply a special protective coating on selected products against moisture, dust, and chemical contaminants, preventing short circuits and corrosion to achieve an IP65/68 rating; the highest dustproof and waterproof level. The exact coating will vary depending on established standard operating conditions for an application. Intended for use on printed circuit assemblies, the acrylic conformal coating product we use is MIL-I-46058C qualified, IPC-CC-830 and RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC compliant, and recognized under UL File Number E105698.
Enhanced gold finger thickness
MEMXPRO’s DRAM and flash modules with 30µ" gold finger thickness options and the selection of industrial-grade materials ensure better signal transmission quality.
